Situated in the south east corner of mainland Australia, Melbourne, a sophisticated world city is ranked as one of the world's most livable, safest, healthiest and cleanest cities. It is Australia's pre eminent centre for Arts and Culture, Education, Dining and Shopping.

The entire Melbourne Metropolitan area which includes eleven suburbs covers 8806 sq kms and has a population of nearly 4 million - the City Centre covers nearly 38 sq kms and has a residential population of around 90,000. Each day around 716,000 people use the City and Melbourne hosts over a million International visitors each year.



Student Intakes:
the first being in February when the Summer is ending and one is looking forward to a pleasant Autumn, long days with the average temperature being around 20 degrees C. the second intake being in July in the midst of Winter with temperatures averaging around 15 degrees C - the days are rather short with the sun setting early around 5.30 pm.

Melbourne Weather:
Melbourne has a reputation for its changeable weather; a tip for any visitor is to be prepared for anything, take an umbrella and wear layers that can be worn or removed as needed .
As a general rule, Melbourne enjoys a temperate climate with warm to hot summers, mild and sometimes balmy springs and autumns and cool winters; while Melbourne has a reputation for rain, the city actually receives less rainfall than either Brisbane or Sydney.

Public Transport Facilities:
Trains, Trams and buses are fairly good and reliable and are accessible from and to most University Campuses in and around Melbourne.

Yearly Pass - around $1200
The Ticket or Pass is valid for train, tram and bus.

Cycling tracks are earmarked all over the roads in Melbourne; traveling by cycle is encouraged and is popular with the students for covering short distances.
Of course, cheap second hand cars are easily available from as little as AUD $1000 to $1500 and above; an International Driving License would be most helpful in obtaining an Australian Drivers' License
